The Grand Canyon men's golf team faces its toughest field of the year when it heads to the John A. Burns Intercollegiate on Feb. 20-22 in Lihue, Hawaii.
The Lopes, ranked No. 113 in the latest Golfstat rankings, are just the 15th highest ranked program in the field of 20 teams.
The field includes No. 6 Arizona, No. 10 Texas A&M, No. 14 North Carolina, No. 15 BYU and No. 28 California. Other top-100 teams include No. 40 New Mexico, No. 43 Illinois, No. 57 Utah, No. 58 Long Beach State, No. 64 Saint Mary's, No. 67 Fullerton State, No. 78 UNLV and No. 87 Santa Clara.
After a strong fall season saw the Lopes earn a pair of runner-up finishes, the Lopes got the spring season started last week with a third-place finish at the Orange County Collegiate Classic.
Reece Nilsen recorded a fifth place finish to lead the Lopes and earned WAC Player of the Week honors.
After this week, the Lopes return for the GCU Invitational at GCU Golf Course on March 13-14.
