The Grand Canyon men's golf team named
Clayton Sikorski as assistant coach, Lopes head coach
Mark Mueller announced Friday.
Sikorski has earned numerous coaching awards, including the Golden State Athletics Conference Coach of the Year, a Dave Williams NAIA National Coach of the Year finalist selection and NAIA Golf Coaches Association of America Western Region Coach of the Year.
Most recently, Sikorski started the men's and women's golf programs in February of 2017 at Ottawa University, located in nearby Surprise, Ariz.
At Ottawa, the Spirit won four events and finished outside the top five just once in 11 tournaments last season. Sikorski coached the National Christian College Athletic Association champion and a NAIA All-America second-team player at Ottawa. Additionally, the Ottawa was ranked as high as No. 5 in the NAIA and won the GSAC championship by 35 strokes.
Before his time in Arizona, Sikorski was the men's and women's head coach at Oklahoma Wesleyan University. His men's team reached No. 14 in the NAIA coaches poll.
Sikorski graduated from Oklahoma Wesleyan in 2014 and earned a Master of Business Administration degree in 2016. He played on the golf team for four years and earned Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference honors on the all-conference team twice.
