Lopes play in Chandler before heading to Northern California
The Grand Canyon men's golf team returns to the links this week when it heads to the Wyoming Cowboy Classic on April 8-9 at Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Ariz.
This will be GCU's first appearance in the event since the 2015-16 season when the Lopes finished 11th in the 19-team event.
Last year, UTSA won the Cowboy Classic with an 842 (-22) score. Sam Houston St. finished runner-up (846), while Wyoming finished third (847).
Sean Meehan of UTSA won medalist honors with scores of 70, 67 and 68, good for a 205 (-11) total.
GCU is led by Filip Lundell with a 72.19 stroke average. Jake Chanen averages 72.79 while Trevor Lampson averages 73.00.
It will be a two-tournament week for the Lopes as GCU heads to the El Macero Classic in Northern California on April 12-14.
