The Grand Canyon men's golf team returns to the links this week when it heads to the Wyoming Cowboy Classic on April 8-9 at Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Ariz.
This will be GCU's first appearance in the event since the 2015-16 season when the Lopes finished 11
th in the 19-team event.
Last year, UTSA won the Cowboy Classic with an 842 (-22) score. Sam Houston St. finished runner-up (846), while Wyoming finished third (847).
Sean Meehan of UTSA won medalist honors with scores of 70, 67 and 68, good for a 205 (-11) total.
GCU is led by
Filip Lundell with a 72.19 stroke average.
Jake Chanen averages 72.79 while
Trevor Lampson averages 73.00.
It will be a two-tournament week for the Lopes as GCU heads to the El Macero Classic in Northern California on April 12-14.
