The Grand Canyon women's tennis team will have a busy weekend with a matches in Tucson on Saturday and another match at home on Sunday.
The Lopes (2-6) plays Liberty (2-4) at 10 a.m. on Saturday in Tucson before returning to Phoenix to compete against Sacramento State (0-2) at 10 a.m. Sunday at GCU Tennis Facility. A Friday match against Arizona was postponed due to weather.
Despite the Lopes' recent five-match skid, players stepped up in situations throughout the lineup. Junior
Celina Buhr, who recently moved down to No. 4 singles, is on a two-match winning streak. Last weekend, Buhr won a pair of three-set matches at Utah State and at Weber State. Junior
Celia Morel also provided a three-set win against the Aggies, winning the final set in a tiebreaker.
GCU also will play its first-ever match against Liberty and will play Sacramento State for the first time since 1998, when the Lopes won 5-4 on the only previous matchup.
