Grand Canyon sophomore goalkeeper
George Tasouris was named the WAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Tasouris, the 2019 WAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, leads the conference in goals-against average (0.85 per game) this season.
The award comes off the Nicosia, Cyprus, native's sixth shutout of the season at UT Rio Grande Valley on Saturday night. He made three saves in the match, including two vital saves in the second overtime to secure a tie for the Lopes. He iranks second in save percentage at .814. Tasouris has started all 12 matches for the Lopes, playing eight 90-minute games and four double-overtime ties.
The recognition is the team's second weekly honor of 2019 after sophomore defender
Esai Easley was named WAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 16.
