GCU goes under par on moving day
The Lopes made a big push over their final nine holes of the second round to come within four shots of fourth place in the 16-team field. After being 2 over par as a team through nine holes, the Lopes finished the day with a 4-under-par 284. The score was nine strokes better than Monday's first round.
San Jose State leads the tournament with a 13-under-par score of 563. No. 5 BYU (567) and No. 35 Long Beach State (569) round out the top three.
Senior Trevor Lampson led the Lopes on Tuesday with a 4-under-par 68, including five birdies and one bogey to move into a tie for ninth place.
GCU seniors Michael Salazar, T.J. Nolan and Jake Chanen each fired rounds of 72. Nolan had GCU's lone eagle Tuesday, carding a three on the par-5 sixth hole.
Sophomore Matthew Braley had a 73 and is 1 over par for the tournament to tie for 31st place entering final-round action on Wednesday.
