Lopes aim for success in California
The Grand Canyon men's golf team heads to the Cullum Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, when Cal State Northridge will host a 17-team tournament at Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley, California.
GCU is coming off a record-setting tournament at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational. The Lopes shot a program-best 25 under par and finished runner-up to host Colorado.
Lopes senior Michael Salazar captured medalist honors with a 12-under-par score and won a three-way playoff with a birdie on a repeat trip to the 18th hole.
GCU had success at the Cullum Invitational last year as the Lopes finished in fourth place among 17 teams. Matthew Braley, now a GCU sophomore, finished in a tie for fourth place.
