Jake Chanen of the Grand Canyon men's golf team was named the state's top amateur for 2018 in the JOX Awards, which have been presented by golf network JOX Sports for four years.
Each year, JOX Sports recognizes a Player of the Year for five categories. The 2018 award recipients include Chanen (amateur), Preston Summerhays (junior), Haley Moore (university), Leon D'Souza (community college) and Ken Tanigawa (professional).
Chanen, a junior at GCU, captured the state's top amateur titles in 2018 by winning the Arizona Amateur Championship and the Arizona Stroke Play Championship for a second consecutive year. With the Lopes, Chanen also finished fourth at the GCU Invitational and fifth at the WAC Championship.
