RESULTS DAY 1
PHOENIX – The Grand Canyon men's golf team sits in fifth-place after the first day of the GCU Invite at GCU Golf Course.
The Lopes are at +6 after two rounds. No. 40 Missouri leads the tournament at -11, followed by Pacific (-3), UC Riverside (-3) and Long Beach State (-1). GCU finished the first day two shots ahead of conference rival UMKC (+8).
Jake Chanen is at -1 overall after rounds of 70 and 71, good for 10
th place. He is just three shots behind the co-leaders.
Matt McClung is at +1 after rounds of 71 and 72.
Vinnie Murphy is in 22
nd place after rounds of 71 and 73.
Filip Lundell fired rounds of 76 and 73, while
TJ Nolan came in with rounds of 73 and 76.
Also for GCU playing as individuals,
Michael Schaloum shot 76-70,
Max Sekulic finished with 75-71,
Trevor Lampson finished with 74-72 and
Colton Estevez came in with 76-73.
The co-leaders of the tournament are Casey Scott (Pacific), Tyler Moore (UC Riverside) and Hunter Reed (Long Beach State), each tied at -4.
Saturday's final round will begin at 8:00 a.m. at GCU Golf Course.
