Lopes resume fall competition in Southern California

The Grand Canyon men's golf team heads to the Cullum Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley, Calif.

Cal State Northridge hosts the 17-team field. The tournament will have a West Region feel to it with participating squads including GCU, Air Force, Boise State, Cal Poly, CSU Fullerton, Gonzaga, Hawaii, Idaho, San Diego, Southern Utah, California-Irvine, California-Riverside, California-Santa Barbara, Utah State, Utah Valley and Weber State. Individuals also will be participating from UCLA, USC and several other teams in the 100-player field.

The winning individual score in each of the past two years has resulted in a 202 (14-under) total. The past two medialists were Jonah Texeira of USC (2016) and Derek Castillo of CSU Fullerton (2017).

This will be GCU's third fall tournament. The Lopes finished ninth among 14 teams at the Northern Intercollegiate to open the season. GCU then finished fifth in the 16-team Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational.
