The Grand Canyon University men's golf team is set to open their spring schedule on Feb. 9-10 when they travel to San Diego, Calif., for the WIU Carlton Oaks Invitational, hosted by Western Illinois at the Carlton Oaks Golf Course. That tournament marks the first of six for the Antelopes in the spring.
Four of GCU's six tournaments will be played in California, including the aforementioned WIU Carlton Oaks Invitational; the Folino Invitational, hosted by Fullerton at the Industry Hills Country Club in Fullerton on Feb. 16-17; the Sacramento State Invitational held at the Valley Hi Country Club in Sacramento on March 9-10; and the El Macero Classic hosted by UC Davis at the El Macero Country Club in Citrus Heights on April 10-12.
The Lopes will make the trek to Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., for the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular on March 13-14. That tournament is hosted by George Mason at the Mission Inn Resort.
The 2015 spring slate will conclude with the Western Athletic Conference Championships on April 20-22. The conference tournament will be held at GCU's home course, the Wigwam located in Litchfield Park.
"I am really looking forward to this semester," said head coach Mark Mueller. "We have a great schedule for the spring, and I can't wait to see what the guys can do. We will be working hard and getting better every day."
As a team, the Lopes collected four top-10 finishes in five fall tournaments, including a fourth-place finish at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate. GCU finished just two strokes out of second place.
Brett Wilson will look to lead the Lopes after a strong showing during the fall portion of their schedule. Wilson picked up two top-10 finishes and four top-20 finishes in five tournaments, including a tie for seventh place at the SCVB Pacific Invitational. He tied for ninth in GCU's season-opening tournament, the Nick Watney Invitational. Wilson carded five rounds at 70 or below, including an impressive three-under 68 in the opening round of the SCVB Pacific Invitational.

Mariano Rossi each picked up a pair of top-20 finishes during the fall campaign.
