The Grand Canyon University concluded play at its season-opening invitational Wednesday at the Wigwam Golf Resort in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
"Very excited for Charlotte Jaengkit, this is her fifth win this year and seventh in the last two years and she is just playing great," said head coach Don Powers. "Congratulations to my team, I am very proud of them. Good play by my freshmen and it was an overall great three days."
Charlotte Jaengkit kicked off her senior spring campaign with a first-place finish at the three-day invitational, carding a one-over 217 to take home medalist honors. Jaengkit stood atop the leaderboard heading into the final 18 and shot a two-under 70 Wednesday to secure the top finish. Freshmen
Kennedie Montoya and
Deanna Salvatori each posted top-10 finishes, as Montoya's seven-over 223 tied for fifth, while Sanatori came in tied for 10
th with her score of a 10-over 226.
After entering Wednesday's final round in second, the GCU 'A' team maintained its position and took home second-place, finishing with a team score of 39-over 903. The Canyon 'B' team finished in a three-way tie for ninth with a team total of 932.
The Lopes will head to Sedona on Friday for the Red Rocks Invitational. The two-day invitational is being hosted by NAU.
