Coming off her best finish of the 2025-26 season, freshman
Alexis Vakasiuola claimed two Mountain West weekly awards, sweeping the Golfer and Freshman of the Week accolades.
The honors are the first of her career and first for the season for Grand Canyon.
Vakasiuola totaled a 6 under card at the Alice and John Wallace Women's Golf Classic in Palm Desert, California, Feb. 14-16, placing second out of 96 golfers. The Combs High School alum and San Tan Valley native totaled 12 birdies – five each in both her first and final rounds – and went totaled five birdies to just one bogey over her final 27 holes played.
Vakasiuola finished above many nationally ranked players in the field and was one of three players to go under par over 54 holes.
Her final scoreline was 67/73/67 at the par 71 Monterey Country Club.
GCU is back in action Tuesday, Feb. 24 for the two-day GCU Invitational at the GCU Golf Course.
