In his first taste of the professional tour, former Grand Canyon University men's golfer Mark Geddes won the Pepsi Tour Open Division, held at the Raven Golf Club in Phoenix on August 24.
Geddes carded identical scores of 66 through the 36-hole tournament to stand six strokes ahead of the second-place finisher.
According to the Pepsi Tour website, The Open Division of the Pepsi Tour features the West Coast's rising stars in the professional golf world. Most of its players have competed on college teams, some have participated in PGA Tour, Champions Tour and LPGA Tour events, and many have played on the Nationwide Tour, on foreign tours and on various developmental tours across the country.
Geddes collected eight top-10 finishes in 11 tournaments as a senior with the Antelopes in 2013-14, the first year that GCU competed as members of the Western Athletic Conference. He tied for fifth overall at the WAC Men's Golf Championship and picked up an individual victory at the UNO Invitational earlier in the year. Geddes was a four-year player for the Lopes.
