Grand Canyon University golfer
Hayden Webb has been selected as the Western Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for April 14-20, as announced by the conference today. This marks the men's golf team's second weekly award.
Mark Geddes earned the honor on March 3-9.
Webb, a freshman from Mesa, Ariz. (Mountain View HS), placed second at the El Macero Classic last week out of the 69 competitors on the course. He was the top finisher for the Lopes and finished just three strokes from the lead. His performance on the green helped Grand Canyon earn their third place achievement in the 12-team competition.
Webb shot a 3-under 213 in the three-round tournament. In the first round, he shot a 1-under 71, following up with a 2-under 70 in the second round. During the final round, he scored an even par 72. His score for the second round is his second-lowest score of the season. He tallied 12 birdies throughout the contest, tying for the second-most among all competitors. He also posted a seven-under on Par 5 scoring, which tied for the top spot during the competition.
The Antelopes are set to participate in the WAC Championships starting on May 2 at the Stallion Mountain Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nev.
