The Grand Canyon women's tennis team wrapped up their two-match stay on the island of Oahu with a 6-1 loss to Hawai'i in Honolulu.
The loss drops the Antelopes to 6-5, while UH evened their record at 7-7.
"The match started off well with yet another win in the doubles by Freddie and Janaki and we were close on No. 1 which would have given us the doubles point," said head coach Greg Prudhomme. "But Hawai'i is extremely tough at home. Tatum's win was a highlight today, but we just ran into some depth. With that said these two matches on the islands will serve us well going forward."
Despite losing the doubles point,
Janaki Gunuganti and
Frederique Van de Velde were able to pick up a win at No. 2 doubles. Their 8-4 win marks their seventh straight.
GCU notched a point in the singles round as
Tatum Prudhomme improved to 7-3 overall with a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 2.
Taylor Young took her No. 6 singles match to three sets, before falling 0-6, 6-2, 0-6.
The Antelopes will return to the courts next week for three matches in Las Vegas, Nev. Up first will be a match with Weber State on March 22.
