The Grand Canyon University Women's Golf Invitational came to a close today following the final round of 18 holes at the Wigwam Golf Resort in Litchfield Park, Ariz. The Antelopes had two teams competing in the invite, and both placed in the top-five of the 15-team field.
GCU's
Charlotte Jaengkit and NAU's Brittany McKee tied for individual medalist honors at eight-over 224, but Jaengkit came out victorious in the three-hole playoff. It was Jaengkit's sixth top-10 finish in seven tournaments this season.
Sydney Martien of McNeese State took third overall, one stroke behind the leaders.
For the team title, it was a tight race down the stretch, as the top four teams were separated by just four strokes over the final four holes. The GCU 'A' team finished in fourth place with a three-round total of 61-over 925. Northern Arizona and Santa Clara tied for the top spot at 56-over 920. McNeese State took third place, three strokes behind the winning teams.
The GCU 'B' team came in fifth place at 66-over 930.
Jaengkit collected a team-best nine birdies, tied with teammate
Emily Kaye for second-most among all competitors. Kaye tied for sixth at 13-over 229.
Phoeba Cipa took fourth overall after carding an 11-over 227. In today's final round, Cipa drained a hole-in-one on the par-3, 126-yard hole 11. She finished with eight birdies for the tournament.
Julia Shin, who finished tied for 22
nd overall, was one of just four others to record an eagle in the tournament.
The 'Lopes will next be in action this Saturday and Sunday at the Red Rocks Invitational hosted by Northern Arizona University at the Oak Creek Country Club in Sedona, Ariz.
