Men's Golf Adds Mesa Native for 2013-14

Grand Canyon University head men's golf coach Mark Mueller today announced the addition of Colton West to the program for the 2013-14 season.
"Colton is a very talented player who works very hard on and off the golf course," said Mueller. "He is also a great student, with a 3.9 GPA, and on the golf course he is very skilled. Colton had a great junior golf career, and I look forward to seeing how much better he can get."
West is a graduate of Red Mountain High School in Mesa, Ariz., where his squad won the 2010 Division I 5A State Championship. For the Mountain Lions, he was a two-time First Team All-Region selection.
Among his many recent accolades, West won the 2012 PING Junior Masters Championship at ASU's Karsten Golf Course, the 2011 PING SWSPGA (PGA Southwest Section) Southern Nevada Junior Championship, the 2011 JGAA Quintera Cup Founders Team Championship, and the 2010 Chandler City Junior Championship. Additionally, he was named the 2011-12 SWSPGA Boys Junior Player of the Year.
The Antelopes will open the 2013-14 slate when they travel to Abilene, Texas for the Charles Coody West Texas Intercollegiate, hosted by Abilene Christian on Sept. 8-10.
