The Grand Canyon University men’s golf team cruised to a 22-shot victory today at the GCU Thunderbirds Invitational in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
Grand Canyon won the tournament with a 2-over 866. They carded an even par 288 during today’s third and final round. UC San Diego, who led after the opening 18 holes, placed second place with a 24-over 888. GCU’s “B” squad climbed two spots to finish in 10
th with their 919.
The Antelopes’
Jimmy Kozikowski took top the top individual honor with an impressive 54-hole total of 7-under 209. He shot 7-under on the par five holes and recorded 10 birdies and two eagles on the Gold Course at the Wigwam Golf Resort.
GCU’s
Ryan Mahoney finished in a four-way tie for second with a 1-over 217. He finished with 11 birdies. Teammates
Liam Brace and
Alec Dahlquist each carded 222’s and claimed a tie for seventh.
GCU will next be in action on April 8 and 9 when they travel to Dupont, Wash. for the NCAA Division II Regional Preview.
