The Grand Canyon University men’s golf team shot a 12-over 296 after round one of the 63rd Annual Southern California Intercollegiate Championship at Mission Viejo Country Club in Orange County. The round one score placed the Antelopes in second overall, behind leader Cal State Stanislaus (292).
Round two of the tournament was unable to be completed tonight and will begin where play left off at 7 a.m. tomorrow. Round three, the final of the tournament, is slated to start at 8:15 a.m.
Alec Dahlquist, who was second last week, was the highest placed Antelope after one round with a 1-under 70. Ryan Eady of Southwest Baptist led the field with a 4-under 67.

th (74), while teammates
Ryan Mahoney and
Liam Brace are tied for 24
th (76).
Dahlquist is tied for the tournament lead after the opening 18 holes with five birdies.
The Wildcats of Abilene Christian are the highest nationally-ranked team competing at this year's event, coming in at No. 5 in the Golf World/Nike Golf Division II College Coaches' Poll. Cal State Monterey Bay is ninth, Central Oklahoma is 12th, Belmont Abbey is No. 14, Cal State Stanislaus is 16th and Grand Canyon enters with a No. 22 ranking. UC San Diego, St. Edward's, Sonoma State, Washburn and Dixie State are all receiving votes in the poll.
