Grand Canyon’s men’s lacrosse team dropped to 1-1 on the season with a 15-11 loss at Cal Poly Saturday.
GCU scored seven of its 11 goals in the fourth quarter. The Antelopes were down 3-2 after the first, but were outscored 9-2 in the middle quarters.
Carson Barton had six goals and two assists.
Dean Fairall,
Jason Klein and
Brandon Knudson each had two goals. Fairall had two assists.
Goalkeepers
Jordan Johnson and
AJ Wilkerson had nine and five saves, respectively.
Ron Hamwey went 10-for-16 on faceoffs.
Dominique Turner was 4-for-6 and
Kris Holland went 3-for-5.
“Our guys cared too much,” said GCU coach Manny Rapkin. “We came out and played like it was the national championship. We learned a lot and we will be better next week.”
GCU welcomes the University of Arizona in the home opener Saturday at 7 p.m.
