Drew Dziadyk scored the game-winning goal at the buzzer in overtime, on an assist from
Dean Fairall, to give Grand Canyon’s men’s lacrosse team a 9-8 overtime victory over Arizona at GCU Saturday.
The win secures a MCLA conference playoff spot.
Kyle Mason and
Carson Barton each had two goals, while Fairall,
Chris McWilliams,
Nick Castelli and
Matt Mountain also scored.
Jason Klein,
Geoff Barnes,
Luciano DeDonatis,
Sackett Keesen and
Brandon Knudson all had an assist.
GCU trailed 7-5 going into the fourth quarter.
“There were three times in that game we could have quit, but we have really grown as a team the last three weeks and we are starting to see signs that this could be an interesting season,” said GCU coach Manny Rapkin.
The Antelopes were 11-of-21 on faceoffs. Goalkeeper
AJ Wilkerson had 19 saves.
GCU (2-1) plays host to Chapman at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 3.
