The Grand Canyon University men’s golf team finished in a seventh-place tie in the Hanny/Stanislaus Invitational at the Turlock Golf and Country Club in Turlock, Calif. The Antelopes shot a 54-hole total of 23-over 887.
Grand Canyon entered the 20-team tournament ranked 15th in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Division II College Coaches’ Poll.
GCU’s
Marcus Synegal finished in 12
th-place overall, carding a 1-over 217. Synegal shot a final round 70 this afternoon. The Antelopes’
Mark Geddes completed the invitational in tie for 19
th after finishing with a 4-over 220. Geddes recorded a 3-under on the par 3’s, tied for the best score of the invitational.
Cal State Stanislaus, the invitational host, finished in first after tallying a 19-under 845. Western Washington (868) took second, while Chico State (872) was third.
Trevor Blair of CSU Stanislaus won the individual competition after firing a 66 in today’s final round. He completed the two-day event with a 7-under 209.
Grand Canyon led the field with a 4-over on the par 3 holes. GCU recorded 171 pars over the three rounds, tops among all teams.
The ‘Lopes are now off until the Pacific West Conference Championships that will be contested at the Waikoloa Kings Resort in Waikoloa, Hawai'i.
