For the third time in as many games this season, the Grand Canyon University lacrosse team defeated a Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association D-I school, today defeating Nevada-Las Vegas, 13-6, at GCU Field in Phoenix, Ariz.
GCU, ranked seventh in MCLA D-II, improved to 11-1 overall this season. UNLV fell to 3-6 with the loss.
The Antelopes started quickly, taking 2-0 and 3-1 leads in the opening quarter.
Carson Barton, scored two of his game-high five goals in the frame. The Rebels scored two goals to end the quarter tied at 3-3.
GCU would score five unanswered goals in the final 6:33 of the second quarter to take an 8-3 lead into the intermission. Barton scored two of the five goals, with
Chris McWilliams scoring his first of three goals on the day.
The Antelopes scored the first three goals to open the third quarter to stretch their lead to 11-3. Brandon Knudson scored his second of two goals on the day in the quarter.
The teams exchanged a pair of goals in the fourth to close out the scoring.

Christian Abbott each had four ground balls for the ‘Lopes. GCU was successful on 13-of-15 clear attempts and won 15-of-22 face-offs.
Andrew Hunter recorded the win and made 18 saves.

www.GCULopes.com as soon as they become available. The SLC playoffs begin on April 28 and will conclude on May 6.
