#9 Lax Scores 17 in Win Over UC Davis

The No. 9 Grand Canyon University lacrosse team defeated UC Davis, 17-11, this afternoon at the Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix, Ariz.
The win improved the Antelopes’ overall record to 9-1, 4-1 in the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference. UC Davis fell to 3-6, 2-4 in the league.
GCU led the game throughout, leading 6-3 after one quarter, 9-4 at the half and 14-7 after three.
Kyle Mason returned to the Canyon lineup today and registered a team-high five goals. He also had an assist. Matt Mountain and Cody Wagner each scored three goals. Carson Barton, the club’s leading scorer, had a goal and six assists this afternoon.
Fred Whistle collected a team-high seven ground balls and added a goal and an assist.
Andrew Hunter picked up another win, making eight saves against the Aggies offense.
GCU moved the ball effectively throughout the game, converting on 14-of-15 clear opportunities.
The Antelopes will be back in action this Saturday, when they will host Cal State Long Beach in a critical SLC game at the Reach 11 Sports Complex. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
