The seventh-ranked Grand Canyon University lacrosse team rolled to a 21-3 win last night over Cal State San Marcos at the Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix, Ariz.
The win improved the Antelopes’ overall record to 7-0, 3-0 in the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference.
The outcome Saturday was in little doubt as the Antelopes raced out to a commanding 8-1 lead after the first quarter. The lead grew to 13-1 at the half and 19-2 after three.
Carson Barton had five goals for Canyon and has 24 for the season. He also recorded two assists.
Adam Schubert had a five-point effort, scoring twice with three assists.
Freddie Matori and
Chris McWilliams added two goals apiece.
Matori led the ‘Lopes with eight ground balls and was 10-for-11 on faceoffs.
Fred Whistle won all eight of his faceoff attempts.
Andrew Hunter started in goal and made two saves.
Grand Canyon will now travel to Temecula, Calif. for a critical conference clash with 17th-ranked Cal State Fullerton on March 24 at 7 p.m. at Great Oaks High School. The game will be televised live on
THE LACROSSE NETWORK. The Titans are a half-game back of GCU in the SLC with a 2-0 record. They are 9-3 overall with wins in their last nine-straight games. On March 25, the ‘Lopes will stay in conference play with a game against Marymount College in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. Sunday’s game will begin at 2 p.m.
