GCU Lax Wins Two Over the Weekend; Featured in Lacrosse Magazine

The Grand Canyon University lacrosse team earned a pair of wins this weekend in Irvine, Calif. to keep their undefeated record intact.
The wins have begun to garner the team some national publicity as they were featured in the latest addition of Lacrosse Magazine.
On Saturday, The 10th-ranked Antelopes knocked off eighth-ranked Concordia, 11-8.
The ‘Lopes jumped on the Eagles quickly, taking a 4-1 lead after the first quarter. GCU extended the lead to 7-3 heading into the half and held an 8-4 advantage after three.
Carson Barton once again led the ‘Lopes on offense, tallying five goals during the game. Matt Mountain added two goals and two assists. Chris McWilliams also netted two goals.
Andrew Hunter remained undefeated in goal, collecting 16 saves.
The Antelopes returned to action on Sunday and turned in another solid performance, blanking UC Irvine 10-0.
As was the case on Saturday, GCU jumped out early, taking a 4-0 lead after one quarter. They held a 6-0 lead at the half and an 8-0 lead after three.
Dustin Fraser led Canyon with a pair of goals, his first of the season. Geoff Barnes and Adam Schubert each added a goal and an assist, while teammate Will Dohne scored his first goal of the season.
Andrew Hunter started and made two saves in the opening half. He was replaced by Jordan Johnson who played the second half and recorded his first career save.
Grand Canyon, now 6-0 on the season, will next be in action on March 17 when they host Cal State San Marcos at 7 p.m. at the Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix.
