The Grand Canyon University men’s golf team is in eighth at the end of round one at the NCAA Super Regional in Albuquerque, N.M. with a five-over-par 293.
The ‘Lopes are 10 strokes behind the leader, Sonoma State University who carded a five-under-par 283. Fort Lewis is in second with a one-under 287.
Senior Matt Pridey (Sioux Falls, SD, Washington HS, Augustana College) leads Grand Canyon with an even par 72 finish. Pridey’s par ties him for 19th overall. California State University at Monterey Bay’s Dylan Jackson and the University of California at San Diego’s Keith Okasaki are tied for first after carding four-under-par, 68.
Jacob Golembiewski (Chandler, AZ, Corona del Sol, Cal State Fullerton) is just one stroke behind Pridey with a one-over 73 to tie for 25th overall and freshman Mark Geddes (Cheshire, England, Calday Grange Grammar) is tied for 34th with a two-over 74.
Tournament play will continue tomorrow with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m.
