GCU Lax Rally's Late; Falls to Wheeling Jesuit, 7-5

The Grand Canyon University lacrosse team dropped a 7-5 decision to Wheeling Jesuit today in Wheeling, W. Va. on a cold afternoon that had a snow and rain mixture falling throughout the game.

The Antelopes trailed 7-1 entering the fourth period before rallying to score four goals.

Josh Drummond scored his second goal of the game with 10:35 remaining to cut the lead to 7-2.

Less than minute later, Kyle Bailey scored an unassisted goal to close the deficit to four.

Konner Klein scored with 4:04 remaining and Kahai Sibley with 1:04 left to close out the scoring.

Drummond led the offensive attack, scoring a pair of goals with one assist.

Richard Hunter recorded six groundballs, while teammate Fred Whistle had five.

Andrew Hunter started in goal and made 16 saves for the Antelopes.

The two teams each had 33 ground balls, while Wheeling out shot GCU 33-21.

The loss drops GCU’s overall record to 2-8.

The team will be in action tomorrow at 10 a.m. (Arizona time) when they travel to Bethany, W. Va. to face Bethany College.
