'Lopes Fall to Assumption

The Grand Canyon University lacrosse team dropped a 16-5 decision this evening to Assumption College at GCU Field in Phoenix, Ariz.
The loss drops the Antelopes to 1-5 overall. The Greyhounds improved to 2-0.
GCU opened the scoring when Joseph Nagel scored an unassisted goal with 9:05 remaining in the first period.
Assumption would score the next six goals before Konner Klein’s goal from Jacob Hippensteel with 5:46 left in the half, cut the lead to 6-2. Josh Drummond added another goal for GCU just over a minute later, from Kyle Mason, to bring the score to 6-3.
The Greyhounds went on another run, this time scoring eight straight goals, to go up 14-3.
Drummond would later score to finish the game with two goals, while Mason scored to complete the offense for GCU.
Assumption outshot the ‘Lopes 56-23 and won the ground ball battle 33-25.
Grand Canyon returns to action on March 14, when they will host Adams State at 7:00 p.m. at GCU Field.
