GCU Falls in Lacrosse Opener

The Grand Canyon University lacrosse team dropped their 2011 season opener this evening, 11-3, to Notre Dame de Namur at GCU Soccer Field in Phoenix, Ariz.
GCU (0-1) got off to a slow start, trailing 4-0 after one period and falling behind 5-0 early in the second.
GCU started quickly in the third period as newcomer Josh Drummond buried a goal at 14:11 to cut the lead to 5-2.
The two teams would then trade goals, with NDNU’s David Reyersbach scoring with 4:47 remaining in the period, snapping their nearly 20 minute scoreless string.
Drummond would score the Antelopes final tally of the evening, cutting the lead to 6-3, with a goal at 3:38 of the third. He finished the night with five shots, four on goal.
After trailing 14-5 in shots after one period, GCU would go on to equal the Argonauts, 21-21, the rest of the game.
Andrew Hunter started in goal for Grand Canyon, making 10 saves.

GCU returns to action this Friday at 1:00 p.m., when they host Pace University at the GCU Soccer Field.
