The Grand Canyon University men's soccer team (9-3-1 overall, 5-1-1 in the Pacific West Conference) remains No. 4 in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division II rankings, released yesterday.
Junior forward
Saeed Robinson (Portmore, Jamaica, Wolmers Boys School, Western Texas College) is No. 3 in the nation in total goals (14, four fewer than leader Mark Anderson of Barry University), No. 5 in goals per game (1.08; Barry leads with 1.38), and No. 6 in total points (30; Zach Hofstetter of Florida Southern has 41) and points per game (2.31; Hofstetter averages 3.15).
Senior goalkeeper
Adam Garcia (Avondale, AZ, Westview, Phoenix College, Gardner-Webb University) ranked No. 8 in the nation in goals-against average (0.623; Ryan Wirth of Fort Lewis is tops at 0.333) and No. 20 in save percentage (.826; Wirth's percentage is .904).
As a team, the Antelopes are No. 9 out of 180 ranked schools in team goals-against average (0.6), No. 10 in save percentage (.852), No. 18 in total goals (32), No. 21 in scoring offense (2.46 goals per game), No. 27 in won-lost-tied percentage (.731) and No. 37 in shutout percentage (0.38).
GCU, which is in fourth place in the PacWest behind Hawai'i Pacific (7-2-0), Dixie State (6-0) and California Baptist (6-1), hosts Academy of Art (4-7-0 overall, 3-4-0 and tied for sixth in the PacWest) at 8 p.m. on Thursday and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at the GCU Soccer Field.
