Grand Canyon University senior midfielder
Mitchell Garcia (Avondale, AZ, Agua Fria, Phoenix College) has been named Pacific West Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 10-16.
The recognition was announced yesterday by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix.
Garcia scored a goal and had an assist in GCU's 4-1 victory over Notre Dame de Namur on Oct. 15. He also scored the game-winning goal in the 'Lopes' 3-0 win over Dominican (Calif.) on Oct. 10.
Garcia wasn't the only GCU player honored by the PacWest this week. Junior midfielder
Alex Connally (Warrington, England, Culcheth, Erskine College), senior goalkeeper
Adam Garcia (Avondale, AZ, Westview, Phoenix College, Gardner-Webb University) and junior forward
Saeed Robinson (Portmore, Jamaica, Wolmers Boys School, Western Texas College) were amed to the Men's Soccer Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll.
Newly-named team co-captain Connally scored the match's third goal in the win over NDNU and a goal in the victory over Dominican.
Garcia stopped eight of nine shots in the two wins, earning a shutout vs. Dominican and the win over NDNU. He posted a .889 save percentage and 0.50 goals-against average in 180 minutes of action during the week.
Robinson scored two goals, including the game-winner, against NDNU.
