Saeed Robinson scored twice in the first 21 minutes and Grand Canyon added two more goals late in the second half for a 4-1 Pacific West Conference win over visiting Notre Dame de Namur Saturday at GCU Soccer Field in Phoenix.
GCU improved to 9-3-1 overall and 5-1-1 in the PacWest. NDNU dropped to 6-6 and 2-4.
It was Grand Canyon’s second straight win and fourth straight PacWest victory.
Robinson, a junior forward, is among the nation leaders in goals scored. Saturday’s tallies were his 13th and 14th of the season.
The first goal came at the 2:49 mark – assisted by
Yared Solscheid, from the center of the field just inside the 18-yard line. Robinson’s second goal came 20:23 into the opening period on an assist from
Cordero Young.
NDNU got an unassisted goal from Armando Garcia with only seconds remaining in the first half.
GCU led 2-1 until the 77th minute.
Alex Connally scored on an assist from
Mitchell Garcia, who added the final ‘Lopes goal at the 86:20 mark, unassisted, off a free kick from 20 yards away.
The Argonauts out-shot GCU 15-14. The Antelopes had nine shots on goal, six from Robinson, to NDNU’s six.

GCU takes on Academy of Art (4-7, 3-4) 8 p.m. Thursday at GCU Soccer Field. The teams meet again Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
