Former GCU Men's Soccer Player Killed in Auto Accident

Grand Canyon University and the Arizona soccer community lost one of their own yesterday.
Micah Kaplan, a Cactus High School product who played at GCU from 2003-06, as well as with the CISCO Soccer Club under Coach Kenny Laird, passed away in a car accident on Loop 101 yesterday afternoon. He was married and worked as a teacher in the Deer Valley School District, and coached the O'Connor High School boy’s soccer team for a few years. He was only 25 years old.
"I was very fortunate to be able to coach Micah for a few years," GCU Head Coach Petar Draksin said. "Yesterday was a very sad day. When I got the call, I could not believe it. The first thing I thought about was what a humble human being and what a hard-working, excellent soccer player he was.
"Also, spending time with Micah, I got to know him. He was a very faithful young man, and his love for and trust in God was unmeasured.I have no doubt that God has a plan for Micah."
