Carotenuto earns 3rd PacWest Player of Week honor
Grand Canyon goalkeeper Franco Carotenuto (Scottsdale Chaparral HS) was named the Pacific West Conference Player of the Week. It is the third time this season the Antelopes goalkeeper has received the honor.
Carotenuto went 2-0-1 with three shutouts last week. He made 13 saves during the three games.
Carotenuto has six shutouts this year, and 14 in his career. The 14 shutouts are tied for second all-time in GCU's 24-year men's soccer program history.
Carotenuto leads the nation in goals against average (0.29) and saves percentage (.927). His record is 5-1-4.
GCU midfielder Brian Green, defenders Bosko Jovicevic and Dusan Radisavljevic and forward Nick Sykes were named to the PacWest Top 10 Weekly Honor Roll. Green figured in on both goals in a 2-0 win over Cal State San Bernardino with a goal and an assist. Jovicevic scored the gamewinning goal against San Bernardino and had an assist in a 3-0 win over against Hawai'i Pacific, and helped direct two of the three shutouts. He did not play in the 0-0 tie with Hawai'i at Hilo.
Radisavljevic scored the gamewinning goal on a header against Hawai'i Pacific, and was in on all three shutouts defensively. Sykes had a goal in the win over HPU and an assist in the win over San Bernardino.
GCU will play at Dixie State Tuesday night.
