Grand Canyon University men's golf team slipped to eighth place after the third round of the NCAA Division II Brett Beaty steady at NCAA ChampionshipsChampionships in Houston Friday.
The Antelopes will try to make up ground Saturday in the final round at the 7,158-yard Memorial Park Golf Course. GCU (859) is 16 strokes behind leader West Florida (843) and four strokes within catching a logjam in third place, occupied by North Alabama, University of Indianapolis and St. Edward's, who are tied at 855. Georgia College & State University is second at 847. Colorado-Colorado Springs and Nova Southeastern are a stroke ahead of Grand Canyon in a tie for sixth.
GCU's Brett Beaty (pictured) shot par in the third round to move into a tie for 30th place at 5-over 215. Teammates Terence Daniels and Donald Zaruba III are a stroke back at 6-over 216.
