KAHUKU, Hawaii -- Grand Canyon University men's golf team finished second at the Pacific West Conference Daniels at PacWest Championships 08Championships at Turtle Bay Resort's Palmer Course Wednesday. GCU, which had a three-stroke lead entering the final round, shot 304-302-302 -- 908 to finish six strokes behind the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
Grand Canyon sophomore Terence Daniels (pictured) shot a final-round 73 to tie Hilo's Zady Ari at 222 for medalist honors. Ari was awarded first in the playoff. Daniels' second-round 71 was the only under-par round of the tournament for the top two teams.
"Somebody should've shot under-par, but nobody could get it going," GCU coach Keith Baker said. "It was a pretty gorgeous day. The conditions were better today.
"Terence did a solid job, especially in the last two rounds. He was just unlucky in the playoff."
