The Tim Salmon Clubhouse was officially opened on Saturday, January 23, 1999 with a dedication ceremony. The 5,000-square foot structure is located steps away from Brazell Field at GCU Ballpark and includes locker rooms, coaches’ offices, a training room and a team room.
Salmon, who played at Grand Canyon from 1987 to 1989, has enjoyed a successful major league career with the Anaheim Angels (now known as the Los Angeles Angels), to include the 2002 World Series Title, as well as earning American League Rookie of the Year honors in 1993. In addition to his contribution to the GCU baseball program, Tim and his wife, Marci, have also funded two academic scholarships in their names in the College of Business and College of Education, respectively. Salmon was inducted into the GCU Hall of Fame in January of 2010 at the Homecoming celebration.
Salmon continues to reside in the Phoenix area and makes frequent appearances at GCU athletic events.
The cost of building the clubhouse was also dramatically reduced through the contributions and efforts of numerous people who continue to be a part of the special tradition of the baseball program at Grand Canyon.
