Daniel Fecteau enters his third year at GCU as the head men’s and women’s diving coach in 2024-25.
During his second season at the helm, Fecteau helped 2 Lopes divers land on a total of four All-Conference teams. The Lopes have now taken second in both the men's and women's WAC competition's for two straight years
In his first season, Fecteau lead four divers to the Zone E diving championships. Fecteau coached Abigail Erickson to win WAC Women's diver of the year after winning gold (Platform) and silver (3-meter) at conference. Shiori Bak took silver at conference in the Platform event. Earlier in the season, Isaac Poole shattered his own school record in Platform diving with a score of 375.15. Fectau's divers assisted in the Lopes' best combined finish in program history, where they finished second in both the men's and women's Western Athletic Conference Championships.
Daniel Fecteau previously spent three years at Princeton University where he served most recently as the Tigers’ interim head diving coach for the 2021-22 season. Prior to entering that role, he was the assistant diving coach for two seasons.
Fecteau led nine Tigers to the "A" finals in the Ivy League Championships highlighted with second-, third-, fourth-, seventh- and ninth-place finishes in the men's 3-meter competition. He coached four men to the NCAA Zone A Championships, where all of them qualified for the NCAA Championships. At the NCAA Championships, Joe Victor finished 16th in the finals, becoming Princeton's first NCAA All-American since 2004.
On the women's side, Maddie Seltzer placed 16th on the 1- and 3-meter boards and took 13th in platform diving at NCAAs, making her the only female freshman to reach the final in all three events.
Fecteau was also the diving head coach of thee Princeton Tigers Aquatics Club (PTAC) where he was the Vice President of Diving on the Board of Directors.
Fecteau was a diver at Louisville, where he received his bachelor's degree in Sport Administration in 2019. He left his mark on the Cardinals after setting the program's platform record (350.70 points) and was honored as the ACC Diver of the Week during his final season. Fecteau also qualified for the ACC Championship finals all four years and was a four-time NCAA Zones qualifier. He was named to the All-ACC Academic Team and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and also was awarded the ACC Top Six honor for community service in 2017.
As a student-athlete, Fecteau did not waste any time passing on his diving knowledge. He spent four years as the Planview Swim Center diving team's head coach in congruence with being a student-athlete at Louisville and led them to an undefeated record and won four straight Louisville Swim Association championships.
A native of Olathe, Kansas, Fecteau trained as a competitive gymnast for seven years before entering diving. He began his career at Blue Valley West High School where he set and currently holds one-meter records on the 6-dive (378.45) and 11-dive (553.65). Fecteau is a three-time, back-to-back Kansas state champion (2013, 2014, 2015) in addition to setting a 5A Kansas State meet record. In the 2014 season, he was honored as a high school All-American.
In addition to his coaching and diving experience, Fecteau is a USA Diving Safety certified coach and is American Red Cross certified as a lifeguard, as well as first aid, CPR and with an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Daniel is married to his high school sweetheart, Lexi, since November 2020.
