Along with Joash, who earned first team recognition, Jibril Rodet garnered second team while Erick Monge and Bright Nutornutsi received All-Freshman accolades. The Lopes finished the 2022 season third in the WAC in scoring offense, shot accuracy, total goals, and total points.

At CSUB, was actively involved in all aspects of the coaching process, including designing and facilitating training sessions, scouting, opposition analysis, video editing, recruiting, and more. As a local product, Garces bolstered the program’s alumni and community relations and was instrumental in the CSUB Soccer Mentoring Program which placed current CSUB Soccer athletes with local club teams to promote the program, guide young pupils, and excite them about the importance of education and hard work in the classroom, as well as the soccer field.
Garces held various roles at the club level with Central California Aztecs (CCA) and South Valley Surf.
Garces graduated from CSUB with a bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis in Public Relations in 2014 and a master’s degree in public administration in 2016. Garces played all four years as a defender for the Roadrunners and was instrumental to the program’s first ever NCAA Tournament berth in 2011.
