- Signed with the Chicago Cubs as a non-drafted free agent, becoming the program's 18th free-agent signee all-time.
- Earned All-WAC honorable-mention honors.
- Finished career with over 1,000 innings of work behind the plate.
- One of the nation's premier defensive catchers, Avitia stopped over half of opponent's stolen base attempts the last three seasons (35 of 69, 50.7%) and caught 39 of 88 (44.3%) for his career.
- Finished tied for fifth in the WAC with 11 runners caught stealing despite missing the first month of the season due to injury.
- GCU was 23-10 in games started by Avitia at catcher.
- Came through with the game-winning RBI single in the ninth inning of a win at Tulane on March 27.

- As a junior in 2016, was named Arizona Small Schools Player of the Year as he led the Lions to their first Division III State Championship.
- Over his career, allowed just 16 stolen bases while throwing out 43 (.729).
