Johannes, Rubano lead offensive charge with three goals apiece
Grand Canyon begins its second conference season in the Mountain West with a home bout against UNLV.

AT A GLANCE
- GCU was the only team in the Mountain West to not play a conference game on Thursday. Each game ended with a win, with five teams earning three points to start the conference year.
- The Lopes won 2-1 at UNLV last season.
- Seniors Ellie Johannes and Sophia Rubano are in a tie for the team lead in goals (3) and points (7).

AROUND THEÂ MOUNTAIN WEST
- Grand Canyon enters its second season in the Mountain West this fall. The new-look conference has five teams departing for the Pac-12, while Hawaii, UC Davis, and UTEP join as full-time members.
- The Mountain West Championships await the top four teams in the conference, starting Nov. 11 at GCU Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona. The semifinals will take place on the 11th, with the men's and women's championship matches on the 14th.
- GCU was picked to take fourth in the preseason coaches poll.
