PHOENIX, Ariz. – The now 9-1 Lopes took down the 4-2 Lipscomb Bison today at the GCU Tennis Facility. This win continued their undefeated home streak as they head into the rest of the weekend as a top 60 ranked team in the nation.
The Lopes secured the doubles point in less than 30 minutes as they won on Court 3 and 1.
Doubles got started over on Court 3 for the Lopes as freshman
Tim Hohmann secured the win with transfer Junior
Charlie Pade 6-1.
This was Hohmann's second start for the Lopes as he made his debut last match in doubles.
Over on Court 1 junior
Brice Patoux and sophomore
Daniel Jankoski took care of the Bison to secure the doubles point for the Lopes. They defeated Facundo Perlov and Alex Vlahos 6-2.
Over on singles the Lopes continued to dominate taking all six courts in the first set.
Patoux got the scoring started for the Lopes on Court 5, securing his match 6-1, 6-3. This win moved him to 10-0 on the season in singles play.
French sophomore,
Tristan Berard, clinched his court, sweeping Facundo Perlov 6-2 in straight sets. With this win Berard now goes to 9-1 with a four game win streak in singles.
Jankoski took Court 3 to clinch the match for the Lopes over Alex Vlahos from the Bison. Jankoski got the sweep winning 6-4 in both the first and second sets.
Although the Lopes clinched the match win, the rest of the matches were played out.
Over on Court 6,
Charlie Pade took his match to a tiebreaker in order to clinch his win for the Lopes.
Pade took over the first set 6-1 before battling to a tiebreaker victory in the second set 7-6 (7-2).
Sophomore
Andreas Loizas had a strong first set winning 6-1. In the second set, Loizas nearly came back down 5-2 bringing it back to 5-5 before falling 5-7. Loizas went on to win the third set tiebreaker 10-2.
The Lopes look ahead to tomorrow where they will take on the reigning Mountain West Champions, Boise State Broncos, at the GCU Tennis Facility at noon.
