The Grand Canyon men's volleyball team returns to Phoenix to host No. 19 Penn State Saturday and Sunday at Global Credit Union Arena after playing its last four matches on the road.
Both matches will be streamed live on B1G+.
3 THINGS TO KNOW
- HOME SWEET HOME:Â The Lopes are coming off of road losses to top-15 opponents (CSUN, Long Beach, Pepperdine). GCU returns home where it is 5-1 this season and ranks 12th in the country in attendance.Â
- 250 WINS: After tallying two wins at home against UC San Diego, the Lopes currently sit at 249 wins as a team, with this week providing opportunities to reach 250.Â
- HISTORY:Â The Lopes have only played Penn State twice before, with the Nittany Lions winning both matches in 2022 at Rec Hall.
SCOUTING PENN STATE
Penn State is 3-4 on the road after beginning the year ranked eighth in the AVCA Preseason Poll. Senior middle blocker, Owen Rose, currently ranks fourth in the country in blocks-per-set with an average of 1.182 with the team ranked 10th at 2.409. Penn State most recently defeated Merrimack 3-1 after splitting against NJIT.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Lopes will host the next four matches following Sunday against Penn State. The home slate will include Concordia Irvine and BYU.Â
