The Grand Canyon women's golf team heads two hours north to Sedona to partake in the three-day Red Rocks Invitational at Oakcreek Country Club.
Scheduled for earlier in the morning, tee times will begin at 10 a.m. due to inclement weather in the past days in the northern Arizona region. The weekend forecast predicts 37 degrees as a high Friday with a 40% of snow, a vast difference from their previous tournament at their home course in Phoenix where temperatures reached high 80s in two higher-than-normal late February days.
The same starting five as the last two tournaments will compete for the Lopes, including graduate
Calynne Rosholt, senior
Anci Dy, junior
Lena Tremouille and sophomores
Brenna Preap and
Jess Haines. Senior
Amelia Curtis and freshman
Matilda Samervong will compete as individual entries.
GCU is one of 19 teams competing this weekend, including one of four WAC teams joining Southern Utah, California Baptist and Seattle U. It can be seen as a mini-prelude to the WAC Tournament next month in Litchfield Park, with four of the nine teams all in one tournament, a first for GCU this season.
GCU enters at No. 73 in the recent Clippd Scoreboard rankings, updated as of March 12. The full field includes Weber State, South Dakota State, host Northern Arizona, Delaware, Oral Roberts, Northern Colorado, Southern Utah, Xavier, Columbia, California Baptist, Navy, Towson, Seattle U, North Dakota State, Morehead State, Illinois State, Wichita State and Montana.
