AT A GLANCE
With the final regular-season match on deck, Grand Canyon hosts UNLV Saturday evening and will honor its four seniors prior to the match.
UPDATE - GCU has advanced to the WAC Tournament based off a Utah Valley tie against Utah Tech Friday evening. The Lopes have a chance at claiming a share of the WAC regular-season title. GCU needs a win Saturday and a San Diego State tie to California Baptist, and iff all scenarios play out, the title would be the first for GCU since 2021. The Lopes would also earn a first-round bye.
GCU is second in the WAC in goal differential and is coming off its fourth shutout of the season. It is plus-11 in goals scored and has allowed only two goals in a match once this season.Â
Lopes freshman forward Junior Diouf is top 10 in the nation in goals (12) and points (28) and is one goal from becoming second on the Division I-era program single-season score sheet. He is tied with Shaun Joash (2022) and four behind Niki Jackson (2016). Diouf is fifth in the country in shots per game (3.86) and eighth in shots on goal per game (1.79).
Graduate goalkeeper Daniel Ibarra is 22nd in the nation and second in the WAC in goals against average (0.72). His .833 save percentage is 12th best in the country and has 45 saves this season.Â
Graduate forward Ben Assane has five assists this season, one shy of tying the single-season record in the program's D-I era. His five assists are fourth best in the WAC.Â
LAST TIME OUT
The Lopes played to their third straight draw, a 0-0 result at Air Force last weekend.Â
The fourth draw is GCU's most in a single season since 2019.Â
GCU had 19 shots and five shots on goal, compared to Air Force's five shots without any shots on goal.
SCOUTING UNLV
The Rebels enter Phoenix 4-5-6 overall and 1-1-4 in WAC play, holding seven points to be tied for sixth in the Mountain West. A win would advance UNLV to the WAC Tournament.Â
UNLV has tied four of its last six matches, and is 1-1-1Â in its last three.Â
It has yet to win a road match this season, going 0-3-3 away from Las Vegas.Â
Bryce Allred leads the team with four goals. UNLV has scored 14 goals while allowing 21 this season.Â
WHAT'S NEXT?Â
The Lopes will await their seed in the WAC Tournament, which will be Nov. 9-15.
