In-state battle comes to GCU Stadium on Thursday night

Grand Canyon hosts in-state foe Northern Arizona on Thursday night, looking to keep the Lumberjacks winless.

There will be a student "March to the Match" for this game, expected to be the highest attended match at GCU Stadium this year.
GCU is playing its final season in the WAC, coming off the program's second WAC Tournament title and NCAA tournament appearance.
GCU received votes in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll last week for the first time in program history.
Senior defender Sidney Roberts received WAC Defensive Player of the Week for Aug. 26-Sept. 1.
Sophomore midfielder Madison Hamm received WAC Defensive Player of the Week for Aug. 19-25.
Senior DeAira Jackson received WAC Goalkeeper of the Week for Aug. 15-18.
Grand Canyon is tied with Utah Valley for the most players awarded with WAC Player of the Week recognition this season.
The Lopes have 12 players with an assist through the first seven matches of the season.
Offensive leaders for GCU include graduate forward Ellie Crisler and senior midfielder Bella Piete who both have two goals and an assist.
The Lopes went 2-0 in Hawaii, beating North Dakota State and Air Force with shutouts to win the Outrigger No Ka Oi championship.
Each goal included a different goal-scorer and passer in those two matches.

GCU lost 1-0 at LMU in Los Angeles..
The Lions scored on a 45th-minute penalty kick.
Lopes senior midfielder Bella Piete had a penalty kick stopped in the 62nd minute.

GCU has started 16 players this season. Just six have started all seven matches.
The Lopes rank near the top of the country in players with an assist (12). Eight players have scored a goal.

This is the 10th all-time meeting between NAU and GCU.
The Lopes last played the Lumberjacks in Flagstaff on Sept. 3, 2021, winning 3-0.
NAU senior Joey Lujan has one goal this season and leads the team in shots on goal.
Lumberjacks goalkeeper Trinity Corcoran has 26 saves on the season with a 0.788 save percentage.
