Distinction honors those with 3.2 GPA, participation in half of sport's competitions
Grand Canyon had 142 student-athletes honored on the conference's final Academic All-WAC release of the school year.Honorees were required to carry a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and participate in at least half of their team's competition and attended GCU for at least two semesters.
With GCU's 88 winter and spring honorees, the Lopes put 230 student-athletes on Academic All-WAC in 2023-24 to top their 2022-23 total of 215.
The conference's final release for 2023-24 includes all honorees for spring sports. It also recognizes the freshmen and transfer student-athletes from fall and winter sports who met academic requirements previously but are just now meeting the two-semester requirement.
GCU tied with Utah Valley for the most Academic All-WAC honorees in the conference. The Lopes track and field program accounted for 45 of the spring honorees while the softball team placed 15 of its 25 players on the Academic All-WAC team while men's tennis had five of its seven players honored.
