GCU grad rate continues uptick to 94%

Grand Canyon's academic climb reached new heights this year as the NCAA's latest Graduation Success Rate report showed the Lopes improving to 94%, the highest mark in school history and the highest in Arizona.

The achievement continues a transformation that began more than a decade ago, when GCU first transitioned to Division I. Since receiving its initial GSR report in 2014, the Lopes have boosted their rate by 37 percentage points, establishing one of the strongest upward trajectories in the nation. GCU's GSR ranks second among the 12 Mountain West institutions.

The Graduation Success Rate, calculated as the four-year average of student-athlete cohorts who complete degrees within six years, now reflects data from the 2018-19 entering class through this year's report. GCU's 94% GSR outpaces the national single-cohort average of 91% and is an uptick from last year's mark of 92%.

This marks the 11th straight year in which the Lopes have improved their overall GSR.

Several GCU programs posted perfect 100% GSRs, including: men's golf, women's golf, men's soccer, women's soccer, softball, men's swimming and diving, women's swimming and diving and women's tennis.

The university's academic infrastructure has grown significantly during this decade-long upward trend. Over the past 15 years, GCU has invested more than $2 billion in facilities and services that support student learning — including new classrooms, libraries, labs and expanded Academic and Career Excellence Centers.
